Harold A. Schaitberger
Harold A. Schaitberger is General President of the IAFF, representing more than 297,000 professional fire fighters and emergency medical personnel in every state in the United States and throughout Canada. President Schaitberger is the ninth president in the IAFF’s 90+ year history, and was the first to have been elected by acclamation in 2000. He was re-elected to additional four-year terms in 2004 and 2008.

Thomas H. Miller
Thomas H. Miller is General Secretary-Treasurer of the IAFF. He was formerly the IAFF 8th District Vice President. Miller joined the Indianapolis Fire Department in 1968, retiring in December 2005 at the rank of captain.

Jane Blume

Jim Brinkley
Jim Brinkley is the Director of the IAFF Department of Occupational Health and Safety. Prior to coming to the IAFF, Jim served for more than 21 years with the Prince George’s County, Maryland Fire/EMS Department, and for 14 years as a member of the Prince George’s County, MD Local 1619 Executive Board. He has received several awards and commendations for his work in fire fighter health and safety initiatives.

Bill Glanz
Bill Glanz became the IAFF Director of Public Affairs and Media Relations in February 2010. He served as press secretary for nearly four years prior to becoming director. Before his arrival at the IAFF, he was a reporter for 15 years, working at newspapers in Colorado, Ohio, Maryland and Washington, DC, where he covered labor.

Pete Gorman
Pete Gorman currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the IAFF. He is a 34-year veteran fire fighter, retired from the New York City Fire Department. He is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the International headquarters office, which comprises more than 100 employees. As a fire fighter and officer, Gorman served in various firehouses in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Midtown Manhattan. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1987 and Captain in 1995 and was elected to the first of eight consecutive terms as President of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association of New York City Local 854, representing 2,500 active and 4,500 retired members.

Barry Kasinitz
Barry Kasinitz is Director of Governmental Affairs for the IAFF. He has spent more than 25 years lobbying at the federal, state and local levels, working for non-profit organizations. He previously worked as a political campaign operative and legislative aide to a state senator.

Jim Lee
Jim Lee is Administrative Assistant and Chief Advisor to the General Secretary-Treasurer. He began a career in fire fighting with the North York, Ontario Fire Department in 1972 and became involved in the union movement almost immediately and was elected president of Local 752 representing 660 members. In 1990, Lee became president of the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters representing 10,000 members, and in 1998 was elected president of the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association -- created with the amalgamation of six cities into one and six associations into one representing 3,000 members. From 2002-2010, he served as Assistant to the General President in charge of the IAFF Canadian operations. He makes decisions based on a threefold test: 1) Is it morally sound? 2) Is it legally defensible? 3) Is it reasonably practicable?

Scott Marks
Scott Marks has been appointed Assistant to the General President for Canadian Operations. He was president of Toronto, ON Local 3888 from 2002-2010 where he worked to equalize retirement benefits, negotiate wage increases, move to a 24-hour shirt schedule and settle contracts.

Jonathan Moore
Jonathan Moore has served as Director of the IAFF Fire & EMS Operations/GIS Department since 1996. Previously, Moore was a crossed-trained dual-role fire fighter/paramedic with the City of Concord, New Hampshire for eight years. Moore also serves on a number of technical committees, including the NFPA Technical Committee on Data Exchange in the Fire Service and the NHTSA EMS Education Agenda for the Future Task Forces.

Lori Moore-Merrell
Lori Moore-Merrell is an Assistant to the General President in charge of Technical Assistance for Labor Issues and Collective Bargaining, Fire and EMS Operations/GIS and IAFF Field Services. Her expertise is in emergency response system design, staffing and deployment of mobile resources, and system performance measurement and evaluation. Lori is a proponent of fire department data collection and understands its criticality to the future of the fire service.

Kevin O'Connor
Kevin O'Connor is Assistant to the General President for Governmental Affairs and Public Policy, overseeing the Legislative Affairs Department and Political Department. O'Connor also manages the IAFF's political action committee (FIREPAC). For 15 years, he served as a fire fighter/EMT with the Baltimore County Fire Department and was a member of Baltimore County Local 1311. Before joining the IAFF, he served concurrently as president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Maryland, Washington, DC Local 36 and Baltimore County, MD Local 1311.

Kevin Rader
Kevin Rader is Director of Education for the IAFF, with responsibility for the development of both online learning and educational resources. Prior to joining the IAFF, Rader served as an IAFF Service Field Representative for the 8th District and was as a fire fighter with Lima, OH Local 334 for 30 years. He was also active with the Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters (OAPFF) for 17 years, holding several leadership positions. Throughout his union career, Rader has organized more than 25 IAFF locals and assisted in negotiating more than 175 labor agreements.

Jim Ridley
Jim Ridley is the Director of the Hazardous Materials and Weapons of Mass Destruction Training Department for the IAFF responsible for training and educating emergency responders about how to safeguard their health and safety, as well as reduce the number of occupational deaths and injuries related to hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction response. Previously, Ridley was a career fire fighter for 29 years with Fort Wayne, IN Local Local 124, where served as president for 11 years. He also served as a vice president of the Professional Fire Fighters Union of Indiana.

Michele Shaffer
Michele Shaffer is Director of the IAFF Labor Issues and Collective Bargaining Department. Her expertise is in the areas of municipal financial analyses, collective bargaining, and pension and health benefits analysis. She consults daily with active-duty fire fighters regarding wages, benefits, working conditions and shift schedules. Shaffer is well versed in labor relations regulations, policy and related federal statues.

Jennifer Stewart
Jennifer Stewart is the Director of Grants Administration and is responsible for overseeing the IAFF’s national grants, which total in excess of $12 million per year. She coordinates grant reports, oversees the program and financial management of grant awards and ensures compliance with all federal laws, regulations and executive orders. Stewart also fields questions from IAFF affiliates interested in grants and fundraising for their departments and assists in the review of grant applications and narratives. Prior to joining the IAFF in 2007, Jennifer served as the grants manager for the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
Bentley Westfield
Bentley Westfield is the Director of Web Operations for the International Association of Fire Fighters. He has provided Information Technology services to the labor community since 1996, and to the IAFF since 2004.
Jeff Zack
Jeff Zack is an Assistant to the General President for the IAFF Information Technology Division. He also oversees the IAFF Alumni program and the union's involvement in the International Fire Fighters Union Alliance. He has worked in the labor movement for 20 years.
