Contra Costa fire fighters are fed up over how they are being portrayed in their local newspaper.
Members of the Contra Costa Local 1230 Executive Board are encouraging its members and families to cancel their subscriptions to the Contra Costa Times.
Local 1230 describes the Contra Costa Times “as on a campaign to vilify public employees, more specifically public safety officers.”
In addition, members say that the newspaper’s attacks on police and fire officers jeopardize the safety of the community by providing misinformation regarding funding and public safety worth.
Members of 1230 are seeking support from other labor unions to join them in their efforts and ask that you spread word of the planned cancellations.
