Florida governor Rick Scott’s performance ratings are sinking into the toilet.
A new poll released by Quinnipiac University finds 48 percent of 1,499 registered voters polled disapproved of Scott’s performance during his first three months in office, compared with 35 percent of voters who said the Florida governor was doing a good job.
The release of the poll coincided as House Bill 1405 was debated Wednesday.
HB 1405 would require state employees to contribute up to five percent of their salary to the Florida Retirement System. The plan would establish an accrued rate for state employees, with a higher rate established for fire fighters.
The change to Florida’s pension system is just the latest attack against fire fighters.
A bill that would stop payroll deduction for union dues and prohibit dues from being used for political activity without written consent passed the Florida House of Representatives last month.
