FIRE Act Grant Application Deadline Is Dec. 6

Don’t miss the opportunity to receive federal grant funding to bring the IAFF Fire Ground Survival (FGS) Train-the-Trainer program, the IAFF Wellness-Fitness Initiative (WFI) and the IAFF/IAFC/ACE Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) certification program to your fire department by applying for an Assistance to Firefighters (FIRE Act) grant. The deadline for applications is December 6 at 5:00 Eastern Time.

More than $320 million is available for FIRE Act grants to help fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency management service (EMS) organizations meet their fire fighting and emergency response training needs. FIRE Act grants also support instructor-led, hands-on training that leads to a national or state certification, as well as wellness and fitness activities to help fire fighters so their mental, physical and emotional capabilities are resilient enough to withstand the demands of emergency services response.

The IAFF FGS, WFI and PFT programs are listed as high-priority programs for FIRE Act grants. All costs associated with the delivery of these programs are covered under the FIRE Act grant program, including overtime costs for personnel to attend or backfill while others are attending training.
