Corporations still run from ALEC

North Grumman is the 101st corporation to leave the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). You can see a list of groups that have left the organization here.

ALEC, a politically ultra-conservative non-profit, which thrives on operating in the shadows of American government pushing anti-worker, anti-union legislation in statehouses across the country, continues to feel the pressure and gain negative attention for the laws it helps to craft.

ALEC supports free market principles and counts on financial support from various foundations, including those controlled by the Koch Brothers. The organization sponsors private meetings allowing state lawmakers and corporate executives to frame legislation that is later introduced in state legislatures. The laws tilt in the favor of big businesses.

ALEC is responsible for introducing negative legislation affecting the livelihoods of IAFF members and their families in states like Wisconsin (collective bargaining), Florida (pension system) and Missouri (Right to Work). ALEC is now in cahoots with groups such as the Heritage Foundation and Protect My Check to bring their evil to towns and municipalities to do more harm to the rights of workers.
